Besides us forwarding it onto 4 painters in order for them to contact you regarding your quote, your personal information is confidential and WILL NOT be used or passed onto any organisation for marketing purposes.
Our company headquarters are in Brisbane,
Queensland, Australia. As mentioned earlier we also operate in
Melbourne and Sydney. In addition we can be found at www.thepaintingbroker.com on the Internet.
The Painting Broker operates and has retained the services of many professional painters in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide & Canberra.
The Painting Broker commenced business in
March 1998, although our painting organizational skills date back to
1976.
The Painting Broker extensively interviews
potential painters to determine their suitability before being
included in our list of professional painters. Because we have
received information about the painters work experience and history
including their specialties in the field, consumers can be confident
that the painters referred by The Painting Broker can assist them with
their specific painting needs.
To enable The Painting Broker to match the
appropriate painters to suit the consumer's requirements we need to
you to provide us with a number of details. If you phone us we will
ask you a number of questions. If you request the quote via our
website there is a questionnaire provided. Once the details are
submitted The Painter Broker matches your specific needs to a select
group of painters that can fulfill those needs. These are painters
that are in your area or prefer to work in your area . The Painting
Broker then contacts the matched painters to confirm their interest
and availability to complete your project and then organises for them
to contact you to arrange your obligation- free quote. You can then
select which one you want to perform the work (if any).
Our screening process is thorough. Before
allowing a painter to join the arrangement we interview them. We make
sure they have the required licensing and insurance. We ask them to
supply references and we constantly monitor their performance for
several months after they join the arrangement. We particularly
monitor this by client feedback as far as reliability,
professionalism, presentation and quality of work is concerned
Yes. We request the painters to provide us
with proof that their insurance and licences are renewed and kept
current. We request all clients to give us ongoing feedback. If any
minor problems occur, e.g. lack of reliability, poor quoting
presentation, etc, then we discuss these matters with the painters
immediately to encourage them to rectify. If any major issues arise
such as poor quality workmanship or damage we request written reports
from the client, also the painter involved, and depending on these
reports a decision will be made by The Painting Broker as to whether
the painter will continue to be referred. This will be dependant upon
the report and/or the way the matter is handled
No. As The Painting Broker is not included
in the contract arrangements or work performed, we cannot guarantee
the work of the painters. The decision as to which painter is chosen
(if any) is up to the client and as such the client has the primary
responsibility to deal with the painter and sort out any problems that
may arise. The Painting Broker will not accept any responsibility for
any problems that may occur. However, should any problems occur The
Painting Broker will use whatever influence it has to encourage the
painter to settle the matter satisfactorily. See also Terms
& Conditions.
Before making any final conclusion, we
will evaluate both sides of the story. It may be that a complaint is
reported as a result of a simple misunderstanding between the customer
and painter. The Painting Broker has no absolute authority over the
painter as the contract is between the customer and the painter.
Although, if a negative trend is established against the painter, we
do reserve the right to remove that painter from The Painting
Broker's referral system.
No. The consumer is under not any
obligation to accept any of the quotes presented by the painters.
However, we would still appreciate feedback from the client as to why
the painters were not accepted. This will help us to provide a better
service in the future.
The responsibilities of the consumer are
as follows:-
1. Advise the painter
exactly what you want/need and when you want/need it.
2. Request references
from the painter or view a portfolio of his previous work.
3. Ask to sight the
painter's current certificate of insurance (business
liability insurance, etc).
4. Make sure a written
contract is entered into between the painter and yourself.
5. For large jobs, do
not pay half deposit. However, many individual painters may need a
small deposit to purchase
materials. Some large companies do not require this.
6. Make sure the written
contract contains all your specifics in detail.
7. Ask the painter
questions!
Yes. Contracts should state an approximate
start date and approximate completion date. If weather slows down the
job, it should be stated that work will be completed within a
reasonable amount of time. Some flexibility is advisable.
The Painting Broker is paid by the
painters for the advertising that we do on their behalf, thus
generating work for the painters and saving them time and money that
they would normally have to spend arranging their own advertising.
These savings can then be passed onto the consumer. The advertising
fees that the painters pay to the Painting Broker do not affect your
estimate.
It is the consumer's responsibility to
get quotes. The quoted amount should be clearly stated on the
contract. Consumers should confirm if the painter or painting company
is going to charge by the hour, what those rates are and any other
estimated expenditures when speaking with the painter at the time the
quote is given. After the quote has been given, any variations in
colours, number of coats or additional work required, etc, should be
put in writing with a firm price agreed to and signed by both parties.
If the painter is licensed he is
authorised by the state government to work within the painting
industry. Different states have different licencing requirements. If
your state has licencing requirements and the painter is licenced, it
will provide you with some degree of protection provided by the
governmental authority. Additionally, non-licenced painters who are
operating illegally in a state which has licencing laws are generally
poor tradesmen and by employing an unlicenced painter you are leaving
yourself open to substantial problems. The Painting Broker makes sure
that all painters that are referred are licenced (if required).
The painting Broker requests that painters
have Public Liability Professional Indemnity Insurance. They are also
requested to have Workcover Insurance if it is required. It is the
consumer's responsibility to sight these insurances prior to
commencement of job. Any other insurances that may be required should
be requested from the painter direct.
